My work has shifted from a narrative representation of specific, vivid dreams to a more abstract expression of these dreams and the idea of dreaming itself. I express these ideas through monotype, a medium which gives off a mood that I connect to and helps to perpetuate the dream-like quality I am seeking. I am fascinated by that moment between sleep and awake when the emblems of a dream become foggy and far away and the dreamer is tethered back to reality. I have sewn thread into these pieces to represent that tether. My works may also include symbolic manifestations of key elements that have surfaced in those dreams, residual tokens that attach themselves to my consciousness.
